Regular readers of Cool Tool Awards will know that I have a weakness
for screen saver authoring tools. I think giving away FREE screen
savers are WONDERFUL promotional tools.
The problem with a lot of these authoring and design tools is that they
take a while to learn, and you need to re-source lots of pre-existing text and
graphics from other places to create the final screen saver. A waste of time.
Along comes ScreenTime
For PowerPoint, a unique tool which can take an existing Microsoft
PowerPoint presentation and compile it instantly into a screen saver,
complete with an installation routine.
Just how easy is it to use ScreenTime
For PowerPoint? Well, frankly, it doesn't get much easier than
clicking a button within PowerPoint to launch the simple 3-Step wizard.
Step 1: Set Preferences: You can set an
expiration date for the screen saver, give it a name, and set the level of
interactivity.
Step 2: Customize Settings Windows: Drag and
drop a BMP file of your choice to help brand your screen saver.
Step 3: Build Screen Saver: With a click your
screen saver is compiled into a small EXE file ready for distribution and
download.
Since most folks already know how to use PowerPoint and
have pre-existing marketing and sales presentations, it's a relatively quick
path to creating presentation-based screen savers.
Now there are a few features missing from ScreenTime
For PowerPoint like including web links from the branding screen and
the screen saver itself, but overall, this is a fine, inexpensive utility and
it should prove quite helpful to those of you wishing to expand your marketing
and promotional efforts without having to reinvent your existing material.
