If you are Flash-challenged like me, then you have purchased the famed
Macromedia application but have never been able to use it due to its complexity,
and possibly due to your own inept graphical design talents. I admit it: I'm a
geek not an artist or a programmer. If you yearn to have the slickest Flash
graphics in the world on your site, but don't have the time to learn Flash, I
have a solution.
It's called Mix-FX
and it's very cool. With zero design and programming skill you can quickly
create a Flash splash screen or banner ad. Now there are other tools on the
market that greatly simplify Flash-generation like Swish,
but you need to take some time to learn how to use the tool, and you still
need a certain degree of graphics skill.
With Mix-FX, you
simply point and click to create amazing animated text. Like Swish, Mix-FX
offers a library of preprogrammed animations, but this is where Mix-FX
begins to make a radical departure in your favor.
Not only does Mix-FX
have a longer, more impressive list of effects, but it also offers a nice
library of animated backgrounds, too. This gives you twice the bang for the buck:
animated text over animated backgrounds. And again, it's all point and click.
You simply enter the text string, select the effect and text
color. Click Update and the screen refreshes to show you the animation. Adding
an animated background is equally easy -- simply select the background, color
and size from pull-down menus.
When you are done previewing your graphics and
want to publish it, you simply save it as an SWF or projector file. And
with a click of a button, it will also write the HTML required to insert it
into your web site. See example below which took me less than 60 seconds to
design and publish to this web page. A piece of cake!
