MediaPacker Ebook Compiler has been upgraded to a new version and
renamed E-ditor Ebook Compiler. In our previous review, we stated this
was an invaluable tool for writers wanting to self-publish HTML-based ebooks.
Assuming you understand web page design and want to distribute self-executable
(EXE) files, this newest version will have you up and running in no time at
all.
The interface is very clean and simple to understand. You'll probably never
even need to access the Help file. We published our first ebook within a few
minutes and it looked great!

After you select the directory with the HTML and graphic files
required, you begin to customize the look and feel of the ebook. You control
the screen size, resolution, and you can even add buttons, logos, and splash
screens of your own choosing. You can even change the shape of the ebook and
add skins to give your ebook a unique look.

E-ditor enables you to set a variety of forms of
security, so you can distribute your ebook knowing the contents and its
copyrights are secure. You can select several different forms of security
including fixed passwords, combinations of user names and passwords, or even
make the ebook machine-specific by linking it to the hard drive's serial
number. Everything you need to generate passwords is included.

About the only thing that seems to be missing from E-ditor
is a branding tool. With the rising popularity of marketers wanting to sell
the distribution and resale rights of their ebooks, some folks may need
to purchase a copy of E-ditor themselves to customize the ebook's
original HTML pages. Still this is a great product, and at $97.00 it's a great
investment. We highly recommend it. You can download a free trial version here
or purchase your own copy here.
