Goldshell Digital Media is a very interesting company that specializes in
Flash-related tools, one of which is called FlaX.
Like Swish, FlaX enables you to add textual Flash effects to your web pages
quickly and easily. The difference lies in the number of effects available and
the price. For only $40.00 you receive 31 dynamic special effects --
each capable of further customization through a variety of drop-down menus and
slider controls. The end results are absolutely dynamite.
Like many other graphic tools, FlaX's interface is comprised
of several floating tool boxes: one sets the size, frames per second and
background color; the second sets the text properties; and the third sets the
FX properties. This is a very simple to use tool, and while a Help file is
included, I can't imagining anyone actually needing to refer it.
Changes in your settings affect the preview in real-time, so
you can see how every little change impacts your creation. The effects truly
are marvelous and include a vast array of imaginative twists, turns and fades
that are guaranteed to brighten up your web pages.
I created the above text effect in about 15 seconds by making
simple selections from the drop down menus and slider controls. This one uses
hollow type and an effect called XFiles.
You can make full-sized animations or small ones, and FlaX
will save the animation as a standard SWF file and even write the code so you
can cut and paste it into your web site in seconds.
You can also set an animation as your screen saver with just a
click. You may also embed a web link to an animation to create interactive
banners. If you run out of time experimenting with the look and feel of a
particular graphic, you can always save your work and return to it
later.
This one definitely belongs in your tool box. You can learn
