What happened to the S3 Trio support

Situation:

The S3 Trio cards aren't delivering color like they used to.

There are technical limitations on the chipset that caused us to decide that this card isn't supportable anymore. The driver is obsolete and not supported, but is included on the CD as an experimental item.

Things to try:

To install the obsolete and unsupported (meaning if it doesn't work we can't help you) driver, copy the 's3' file from the /optional/obsolete/drivers/graphics/ directory on the CD into the /boot/beos/system/add-ons/app_server/ directory and then restart the computer. If this does not work, you will not get color in the BeOS with this card. We suggest checking the ready list for supportable cards.
