My keyboard doesn't work

Situation:

  • After booting the BeOS (but only in the BeOS) you can't type.

This seems to affect Abit motherboards and QDI motherboards especially. If you're able to type but the letters aren't mapped right, visit this page to try reconfiguring it.

Things to try:

For Abit motherboards: update your BIOS to the newest available version, most are at 5 or 6.

For QDI motherboards: update your BIOS to version 1.03 or later. I don't have the link because there is some confusion as to which is the official site.

Information we're collecting:

If and only if after you update your BIOS you still don't have keyboard access, please go to the support form and beyond what's on the form, tell us:

  1. The BIOS (version and developer) you are using after the update (above). Please don't contact us until you have the newest BIOS installed, as about 95% of these are cured here, and we'll just make you do it anyway.
  2. What keyboard are you using (model number and make)?
  3. How is it connected? Switchboxes, AT to PS/2 adapters, etc. included.

Please please please be sure to fill out all fields on the support form. Missing fields that seem unrelated mean we have to write back and find out before we can start looking at the issue.
