Description: Splook is a board game originally based on the stand-up arcade game Ataxx (which I'd wager is based on some archaic board game). Similar (but very stripped-down) games appeared as a puzzle in T7G and a standalone game called Spot. On top of the basic "own the board" gameplay, we've added several options that make gameplay more "interesting," modem and TCP/IP support, and plug-in computer players (programmer docs included). Splook is being implemented from a single spec by appropriately experienced people on several platforms, so it should look and behave correctly on each system but still be interoperable among them. It's a good way to pass 5-10 minutes at a stretch. I'm expecting portions of the BeOS source to be available; at minimum the sprite engine. [Remote games and documentation on creating your own computer players will be available in 1.0, which is delayed pending the release of R3.] Version 0.91 fixes a crashing bug in the background music. Users with 0.9 are encouraged to mail bastion1@netcom.com for a new executable rather than impose extra load on Be's server. Mirror Download Sites:
